    I got this on a trade in after completing Gears of War, and it's fantastic stuff. Anyone else picked this one up yet?

    It's even more simplistic than previous RS games, borrowing from GRAW by making it a piece of cake to be in a firefight and directing your buddies at the same time. The graphics will suffer in comparison to GoW, but they're still more than decent enough. What I'm enjoying most of all is that the cover system, which is similar to GoW, is 100% more refined than GoW. Although the enemy tends to hold his ground rather than try and flank you etc (certainly earlier in the game - I believe later opponents are as good as your own team), the firefights you can be in are just stupendous.

    One good example is a show stopping showdown in the middle of the street outside the casino in Vegas. There's burning cars strewn allover the road, dead SWAT cops everywhere, alarms going off, and in amongst it all about 2 dozen mercenaries with anything from sniper rifles to Spaz shotguns... and you have to basically lead your team from the police perimeter to the casino wall to blow an entry point. It's one ambush after another amongst a maze of vehicles and street furniture. With the sound effects and whatnot, it's like being in a Michael Mann film. At one point I had my team pinned behind a wrecked van, spraying three enemies camped behind some cars and walls, and the resulting gun battle was incredible - car windscreens shattering, bullets kicking up dirt, men shouting and screaming. Wow. Really reminded me of the robbery in Heat.

    I'm loving it so far and I haven't even got online yet. I'd say in gameplay terms this is better than Gears of War, it's just a shame GoW set the bar so high graphically. Defo my Xbox 360 game of the year.

    I played the demo over and over, it's really fun. The thing about it that drove me NUTS was the extreme over-abundance of motion blur. It hurt my eyes. Maybe you've seen my post in here somewhere about the overuse of motion blur in this generation of games.

    There seems to only be two uses of it, and both seem functional and valid to me - when a flashbang goes off, and the pretty interesting damage system whereby your vision becomes worse the more damage you take:

    -blurred and over contrast for light hits;
    -red and blurry for medium to serious damage;
    -almost opaquely black with only shards of light when death is close from potentially mortal damage.

    Personally I like this system as it not only gives a clear, obvious warning to duck into cover or run for your life (without resorting to a silly healthbar), but it also deters thr John Rambo player as you simply can't get away with taking massive damage whilst dealing damage at the same time as you simply can't see who to shoot.

    In the demo when you're sitting in the helicopter and you're looking around, every time you turn your neck its like someone is smearing your screen with vaseline. I don't mind it for flashbangs or other effects like that, but when you're just sitting idle there's no point to have tons of motion blur. When I sit in my chair and look around my room my sight is totally focused. It's less obvious when you're playing the game though because most of your movements are precise and slow. They also probably toned it down for actual gameplay because it would make it really hard to play.

    For a good example of what I'm talking about, go download the demo for Blazing Angels. That game is in the third person perspective and the motion blur is ridiculous. PGR3 is also a motion blur rapist.

    I don't recall any blur in the helicopter. I've just done a section where you're in it for a few minutes flying over Vegas and I can't say I noticed.

    Sounds like you need a new TV, theres alot of motion blur in pgr3/blazing angels, but its not ridicoulous.

    Already completed vegas twice, one co-op on realistic with a buddy, and 1st on apparently casual but im sure i did it on realistic, so Im going through it again :D

    I've got to admit the blur in Blazing Angels just looks badly done tbh, it happens to much as any time you hit top speed it kicks in. PGR3's blur is only really apparent if you move your POV around and you see the scenery zipping past the windows, but that's a pretty realistic use and so doesn't jar. One game that I really didn't like the blur in was Test Drive, it was like flying the Millenium Falcon just driving an A3.

    GRRRR. I'm a bit stuck. I've completely cleared out the Chinese casino of tangos, but I can't seem to find what to do next. I've no objective in my HUD to follow and nothing left to explore/kill. Am I missing something?

    I went to my mate's house who had the game and played it co-op style it's really fun but I have to say the graphics are quite disappointing actually, the textures really weren't that great.

    GOW's graphics completely whip this game's ass in that department lol.

    I think this is because in the game they're simulating your character moving their eyes AND their head and body together instead of just moving their eyes so motion blur is applicable here. However I think it's slightly overused.

    The multiplayer graphics look awful compared with the single. Still not on a par with GoW but very nice imho nontheless.

    Man, the multiplayer graphics in spectator mode... made my eyes bleed, and then when actually playing, the size of the guns is completely out of proportion to the avatar, when the 3rd person kicks in, in cover mode etc it looks like a caricature, a bit like those Counter Strike toys on Lik-Sang... Ah Lik-Sang...

    Amazing to think it's made using the Unreal engine really! Still good fun though, except the waiting in the lobby for 15 minutes to play, I'm assuming the retail game doesn't have this problem?

    Yeah i was really suprised by the graphics, looks really dated imho. Apart from the graphics this game so far (only played online atm) is pretty good.

    Fiddly controls in the demo made me not buy it, not often I just turn a demo off without trying to complete it!
