Do you think this circuit (the one from bit-tech) can run three sperate colour LEDs instead of an RGB, cause RGBs are bloody pricey. Thanks
Thanks, do I need to change the R3 Resistor as R1 and R2 are 220Ohm while R3 is only 100ohm to run the Blue LED from.
So what about that R3 Resistor Also, while Im here Where can you get hyper or extreame bright 3mm LEDs from as Maplin only do Red and only 5mm in all other colours, and cant seem to find any at RS either
use Rs=(12-VLED)/ILED to find out the proper resistance of R1, 2 AND 3, cos the values on the schematic will be for the RGB LED, not for seperates. The place you buy them will say on the product blurb the values you need (Vmax=VLED, Imax=ILED) hope that helps g
Ive just measured the voltages coming out of the transistors to recalculate the resistor values and there is alot of difference between the 3 maximums, Transistor 1 was reading 9.2V, Transistor 2 = 2.7v and transistor 3 = 5.8v. (I have read the value cause the circuit has already been built so I was able to read the voltages in the circuit) Is this right cause I thought they would of been the same.
Maplins did do some brighter LEDs but never buy em so not sure. Same for RS but in either RS or Maplins case I think a 2nd mortgage is needed to afford them Of course other sources *cough* way cheaper and I know for a fact they have a few 2500 mcd 3mm blues at less than a quid..
