Will this be ok? Does it hit if a heatsink if fitted on a Asus P7P55D board? http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/4GB-...600)-Non-ECC-Unbuffered-CAS-9-9-9-24-DHX-165v I was going to get this but is out of stock @ scan: http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/4GB-...600)-Non-ECC-Unbuffered-CAS-9-9-9-24-XMP-165V
Looking at the board, it should be OK I think - enough spacing around the socket. What CPU cooler are you using?
These ones are in stock - slightly more expensive, but also tigher timings. They are the lower profile XMS3 sticks ...
Titan Fenrir for my CPU cooler? What makes them classic out of curiosity? Im guessing tighter timings are better? Thanks for they replys
The Titan Fenrir is still a great cooler, although it does have some stiff competition these days. Tighter timings are better - I was referring to the CAS Latency of the RAM. This is normally shown as 8-8-8-24 or similar - each number representing how long it takes the RAM to do things. There are some complications when comparing these numbers at different frequencies, but let's skip over that Basically, for a given RAM speed (e.g. 1600MHz), lower numbers are better. It just means that the RAM is a bit more responsive - although you won't notice much in real life. Unless you're watching every single pound, I would go with the low-profile XMS memory I mentioned to be safe. The Fenrir is a cooler that sometimes struggles against the high-heatsink RAM (although your board looks OK, just can't be sure - perhaps someone else has tried this combination directly and will chime in).
