oops :sigh: sadly, my slot got owned. Everything else is ok. I just didnt put ram fully in and it smoked. Stunk like crap. I just ordered pc 3200 2 X 512 ddr sticks aswell. They will work. Not sure about dual channel on them. What could i do, I heard you can fix it. I was thinking of getting a new mobo later on, e.g. lan party one.

I've fixed stuff like that. Try using a small file, or a sewing needle. Scrape off some of that black stuff. Should work. If the actual contact is gone, then you could try putting a wire in there. did that to a floppy drive connector once. Although, putting in the wire has a LARGE risk of slipping and shocking something.
    I wish you good luck

It still reads, and does memory test ok, but hangs when boots into windows.

Try slacking the memory timings a lot.
Also, try the sticks in different slots.

yeh, I did use alot of sticks " testing", and made sure it was working in each slot. I don't think I tired the burnt slot of its own. I still could I guess mess around with it more. And see if 1 stick will bot etc. I am going to try n scrap the black off. And see if the metal in it is fecked. I really don't want to buy a new mobo, I prop wont for a while. If I do i know which one I will o for, I will go for the Lan party Nforce 2 ultra B Most prop. Its ncie board with everything I have got now just is newer etc. Does cost 100 pounds + tho. It's alot of hassile, got to unplug watercooling take cpu block of and then get it all out, etc. I don't want to even think of it. I will take a wack at it tonight. :eyebrow:

I've done something like that with my laptop, I didn't push one of the modules in all the way, lucky for me the only bad thing that happened was windows didn't detect the module. I simply shut down my laptop, pulled the back cover off, reseated the module and booted up again.
    :duh:
