http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/news/web-business/rambus-claims-successful-patent-ruling-nvidia/ Although it's not that severe, it really shows that they have nothing to do anymore but make XDR RAM for Sony and that's it.
Just so you and everyone else know it, the industry really DID gang up and force them out, and their patents really WERE stolen. Both were independently proved in courts of law, in multi-year trials. To say they're at it again is patently unfair. It might not be greatly widespread, but do a bit of digging on DRAM price fixing. It'll open your eyes.
Well true, they were forced out, but at the same time they have made almost 90% of their income based off of lawsuits. Regardless I'm aware of DRAM price fixing and it's horrid, but that's the capatilist market for you. I'm just hoping that RAMBUS does at one point get a bit of marketshare though, their RAM is fast...just...expensive.
Price fixing vs patenting everyone else out the market? Anyone else remember the price of a RIMM vs DIMM? Hmm double edged sword. Nowerdays the Koreans have turned on the Taiwanese: Samsung wants to force the TW guys out of the DRAM market with an aggressive schedule I heard.
I remember the price back then unfortunatelly. We will see if this will effect pricing. There is always going to be pricefixing with these and nothing is going to change on that front.
