    Hi

Just want to put my situation down and see what other people think.

I already have a pc [hp dc7800p 6gb ram windows 7 64-bit] at the moment with a small 19" screen, pc has like 3x250hard drives in it with a nvs440 quad screen card.

Screen wise I want the Dell U2711, Pc wise im not sure what to get or even if I should get a new one.

Money wise I just turned $75 to like 6.7k and I also just withdrew 2.5k usd on top of that [im a bit of insular Savant when I am in my cave tbh..] , on top of that I am earning ok money at work, (I work really hard).

Im trying to weigh up what to do, I like the bare bones of no frills pc I can play winning poker on at home (with no distractions lo), but I also like the idea of having a "good rig", I had one before spent about £1.7k core i7 gtx275 based with track ir and arma 2 and a £114 sound card

As a side in 2011 I will be doing a lot of microsoft exams, running a few vmware sessions with 180 day windows 2008 so lots of memory might be a good idea, maybe even more than 6gb maybe 12gb?

If I do get a new pc.. I can give my current rig to my dad which appeals to me ALOT because his pc is really slow and it help him in his ebay work.

I dont know much about Sandy bridge but putting the £599 it is going to cost me to get the U2711 how much will it cost for a soild system, Id like a good monolethic case like the 800d or some thing similar with a H70 or h50 cooler, I am happy to spend £100 to £250 on a case but if you can spend £150 why spend £300, even if your making a lot of money why be stupid about it.

Im ment to be technical but really Im posting to see what is a sensible thing to do here, sensible did not put all my money on the poker table and run it up in 600 hands or so but I dont want to feel looking back I did not get the right kit or for that matter that I should have spent it on a nice PC

Finally I will be looking for a bit of Arma 2 with good sound at native res on the dell screen, I dont know about other modern pc games.

I have Retail OS, Eset, Mouse, I need a new silent ok for typing and gaming use keyboard but not some thing that looks childish because Im a big boy :D

What is the best sandy bridge processor for me?
What is the best motherboard that is equal to the previous ASUS P6T Deluxe V2 I had, that was a good soild system board.
    -That has native usb3?
    -That has Sata 6gb sec?

    What is the best 128SSD.
What is best sata 3 drive or drives for storage?

I will not be over clocking any other bits just the CPU.

    Dont want AMD.
Lean more towards Nvidia than ATI, this is a gtx580 area correct?

Oh and my thinking is I will be getting another pay cheque in Feb so why not just spend the money on a good pc rather than coming home tired and donating it away, there is a %25 chance of that happending.

Oh any one that plays poker this is for you, I did this before 400 to 25k usd, I most likely could continue but I need to focus back on "work"..

Just a point if your looking at the 800d as a case it doesn't have particuarlly good airflow, but thankfully works well with the h70 cooler, the h70 in my eyes though is a bit of a rip off and can be quite noisey (not sure if any of these things bother you, just thought I'd point them out anyway) unfortunately I'm not sure how well a normal cpu cooler would work in something like an 800'd, another good case to look at might be the Silverstone Tj07, but again there more suited to water cooling.
Best Sandy bridge, price vs performance chip is the 2500k
as for M/O I'd suugest something like the gigabyte gap67a-ud4 or the asus p8p67
Theres a big jump coming in ssd performance I believe soon, but at the moment best 128ssd I would suggest would be something like a crucial c300 128Gb, its brilliantly fast.
    Storage drives I'd say a samsung f3 spinpoint 1tb,

    Yes Nvidia would be gtx 580, 570, 560(not out yet) 480, 470, 460 etc
and with sandy bridge chip you'd want either 8gb or 16, although the boards can support up to 32Gb, thanks to samsung's recently released 8gb ram sticks

Coolermaster ATCS 840 by far! Cools as well as my HAF 932 and is big. Full Aluminium so is nice and light, but is very very well built :) You'd be a fool to go for anything else. Plus it can take a 360mm radiator in the roof, so it you decided to water cool you have the option :)

What is your budget for the system? If your a good boy I'll run you up a shopping list on Scan... :)

Sounds like you'll want to be reading the January hardware buyers guide when we it hits the site, which will hopefully be sometime next week.
