I did post this originally in the hardware section thinking it was a problem with my overclock but my i5-750 can run Prime95 for days on end without errors so I wondered if this is a more of a problem with folding@home. Everything has been running fine with the SMP client on my i5-750 which is clocked at 3.8GHz, until I got Project: 2633 (Run 0, Clone 10, Gen 20). This is what the log says: Could this be a problem with the work unit? Thanks
Sounds more like it's not happy with the OC. There have been a few reports of problems with that project but mainly on AMD cpu's. Has another WU completed fine?
I replied to your post in the hardware section. I went off on a bit of a tangent but was trying to point out that a 24/7 f@h OC is relative to many other factors i.e. what fan speed/noise you are comfortable with, ambient temperature & most of all the heavily optimized SSE code that the f@h core stresses the CPU with. You learned today that this can change without warning. I read reports on the folding forum where different runs of the new 2633 WU were reported as possibly being bad. This was ruled out when someone else was found to have successfully returned the same run when checked by a server admin. As your machine stayed stable I would suggest upping the vcore a bit but once you do this you step into potential overheating territory which could result in a BSOD. Be careful. Another possibility is memory instability, check that the timings are not being pushed too tight by the board.
Thank you for replying to both my posts I believe my timings are 9-9-9-24, which my memory is rated to run at. I have upped the vcore a bit more since my full load temp is about 56 degrees and I'm not bothered about the noise my fans make Hopefully no more errors will occur Thanks everyone
