I've been a member of this for 3 months now following the free trial, since then i think i've recieved about 2 films i've actually wanted to watch - i hate the way it makes you give a list of 10 films - then makes you rank them - and here's the really annoying bit: totally ignores your choices!!!! Then sends you all sorts of crap - today i've jus trecieved a bonus disc "packed with extras" of one flew over the cuckoos nest, WTF? I watched that film about 2 months ago and dont want this as a "choice" of "film", and all the new films (that i actually wanted to watch) and put high on my list - have never materialised. What a load of s**t - cancelling this scam of a thing right now. My advice - stay away!!! And if you do actually love film - go and buy something you may actually want to watch or visit the rental store
I used to be a member of lovefilm (for about a year), it USED to be really good but at the end of last year it started going the way u describe. i remember as soon as miami vice, mi3, and da vinci code were released (they were all released within a few weeks of each other) id put them at the top of my rental list. any long story short i think it was nearly 2 months (maybe even longer) before i recieved the 3 films. The most anonying thing is there is a blockbuster round the corner from me and they had plenty of them instock, but out of principle i refused to pay cos id already paid wiv lovefilm. Anyways thats wot caused me to cancel. So indeed, stay away, not enough copies of big films.
If you dont want it, i'll have it :O One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest is a fantastic film!!! But yes, they are poo!
I'm with them as screenselect merged with them. They haven't been too bad with me, but then I don't mind getting anything on my list (I want to watch them all!). The only thing I do worry about is when it comes to cancelling - I've heard they make it really really difficult. fini
Cancelling is REALLY easy, they just ask you some questions as to why via a simple web form. I used to be with them and yes, it was annoying that the new releases were sent in a prompt fashion. As to the extras disk, it's pretty simple, don't add it do your list. You'll find that when you add a film that is a 2-disc edition it will automatically add the second disc, just go to your rental queue and remove the extras. I cancelled because they weren't sending new movies fast enough, that and I couldn't justify the cost as there wasn't much I fancied watching at that point in time.
The extras disc is added with the film. It tells you this when you click the button. It's in your list so take it out if you don't want it, it's not too hard. To be fair, I've been with them for over a year and I think it's a great service personally. I wish they would get more xbox games in stock though, I think people tend to hang on to them for quite a while.
I was with Screen Select when they merged. At that point (late-summer), things started to go downhill. I only seemed to get category 3/lowest priority stuff. So I left and signed up with Tesco - I didn't realise at the time but this is run my Lovefilm also! But it's cheaper and as yet they've been very good with the film selection.
I use to be with them, cancelled as well I just got all the movies I didnt want as I just put them on to keep the selection above 10
I was with them ages ago as well, got fed up with having to put films I didn't want to see in my top 10 list as their choice was so dire. Once I'd seen everything they had that I wanted to see I just cancelled it. Was tempted to try Blockbuster's service as surely they must have more choice, but so far I can't be bothered.
To bump an old thread... Amazon has sold it's DVD rental business to Lovefilm and will be transferring us customers to them. It seems Lovefilm are not that great and will want to charge more for delivering the same service too, lame
Koola, TBH, LoveFiLM is not as crap as people discribe above, when you first sign up with Lovefilm they add 10/20 titles to your queue and it is up to yourself to delete them, and they dont start sending you items untill you have at least 10 indivual items in your list. Also go with Tesvo DVD rental, its the same thing but cheaper. Regards GiGo PS been a customer for over 2 years, and fairly happy with the service
lame. Been with Amazon since day one on a "tariff" that is perfect for me (6 DVD/month, 3 at a time, tenner). Lovefilms tariffs all kind of suck :/ (for me anyway) Have always got DVDs from my top 3 in the queue as well, usually the top one. Hopefully they will take on the amazon customers without forcing them to select a different package. even lamer, I won't get my 10% off all DVDs on amazon any more
I've been with them for a few months now and haven't had any problems whatsoever. What's all this add titles to your list as soon as you sign up nonsense? I just skipped it and started with a blank list
I'll probs be going with Tesco as their prices are only a few pence higher than Amazons. I assume your a customer of Tesco GiGo and a previous customer of Lovefilm? Still, it's a shame that Amazon have gone this way as their current rental system is fantastic. Yeah Tad, I'll miss that 10% off as well
Tesco Rental is the same as Love Film. I am currently on a 3month free trial just for 360 games and they've not sent me any of my high priority games yet.
Amazon was excellent, you where also allowed to "loose" a set number of disks... handy if you liked a film...
I was with LoveFilm for perhaps a year. It was good at first when it was originally Screen Select, but LoveFilm bought them out and eventually they resorted to sending me only low and sometime medium priority titles, and they'd send half a series and then stop. So I left and joined Tesco - which is essentially most of the LoveFilm collection for a pound less. Again they were great at first but standards dropped. Not quite as bad as my LoveFilm experience since they tend to send series disks closer together, and I rarely get low-priority titles, but certainly I get too few high priority titles - even when some are older, less popular titles. On the other hand, I've heard bad things about just about every other service as well...
It's a good thing LoveFilm and Tesco both have free trials so I can test them. From the previous comments, they don't seem to match Amazon's service at all. hehe, I'll bare that in mind
