The amount of BS that the target "gamer" audience seems to lap up is astonishing! Perhaps it is something to do with the age of these people?

Why do i seem to remember similar attempts to combine membrane and mechanical into a single switch, hasn't it been done before?

Well I've got a BlackWidow TE - no wrist rest, no number keypad, and that was 120 quid, so 99.99 seems a pretty good price.

No, they didn't add any microswitches. They just added some structure to the traditional membrane keyboard to give it a better throw.
And it isn't remotely a new idea, as my last search on amazon for "mechanical keyboard" turned up a bunch of "mechanical feel" keyboards.

Indeed, nothing new about it, when the various manufacturers of cherry mx knock offs couldn't lower the prices any further they started looking at ways to improve rubber dome keyboards instead and the resulting keyboards sell for like half of what you pay for a fake cherry board, the only thing Razer is doing differently is to jack the price back up to genuine cherry mech keyboard territory.
