I struggled similarly. I use a fusion five blade Gillette razor, Somerset's shaving oil and I shave last thing at night whilst bathing or showering - and I wait until the hot water has really heated up my skin. Works well normally!

    That would be awesome. :)

That handle was made by Windrose. You can see their other designs here, including weight and size info (some are very large & heavy).

There are lots of nice razor handle designs you might like. Have a search for "bulldog" and "OSS" handles, they are very popular.

Those Windrose handles are pretty cheap for what they are. Nice.

Yes, they have a very good reputation. You get a lot of handle and tooling for your money.

Nothing wrong with that. Best not to sharpen the spike too often though.

    Thanks chaps!

I've been very busy the past week so this is my only opportunity to read, All great advice and very concise advice, I'd be lying if I said I still wasn't sceptical. I think on my next trip to the barbers I'll pay out for a cut throat shave on my neck and see how it goes... I'd really love to get this sorted :)

Do you have a razor (not a trimmer) of any kind at the moment, whether it be a multi-blade cartridge razor such a Fusion or whatever?

If so, try shaving "with the growth" (as I explained in a previous post) after proper preperation. You can get most of what you need from the highstreet.

You can pick up a decent brush quite easily for £8 at any Bodyshop highstreet shop (these are much better than the ~£4 Wilkinson Sword brushes you see at supermarkets):

    https://www.thebodyshop.com/en-gb/my-skin-type/men/wooden-shaving-brush/p/p000363

And you can get good, cheap shaving soap that works from most UK supermarkets for less than £1 (50p at Tesco). Much better than shaving with hand-soap or canned goo:

    http://www.tesco.com/groceries/product/details/?id=256534448

Witch hazel works really well as an aftershave lotion, £3.50 from Boots:

    http://www.boots.com/boots-tea-tree-and-witch-hazel-cleansing-and-toning-lotion-150ml-10125607

And a nice aftershave balm, £2.80 also from Boots:

    http://www.boots.com/boots-aftershave-balm-freshwood-10093385

With the right approach and technique (as explained), you should get a decent shave with that little lot and if you find that it works for you and you like it, there's plenty of scope for "upgrading". :)

I don't understand all the fuss when it comes to toilet paper. I use sandpaper to wipe my bottom, no charmin sensitive and never have any issues.^.^

Thanks pal, Appreciate the effort in giving me a concise regime!

I've just took a look in the mirror, I'm probably a week into neck growth and probably need a week more before the bumps go down to give a decent glide rather than shredding my neck to pieces. During which I'll buy all appropriate products and report back with a day by day report... I really hope I can nail this :thumb:

    Many thanks chaps

If you want a creamy and slick shaving cream, I can recommend Taylor of Old Bond Street - Coconut and Avocado. For the razor, there is a lot of choices but I would recommend the inexpensive Wilkinson Sword Classic as starting point (It's a mild razor with a good balance).
