    :DHi,

Sorry for the misleading title as I already have a ReadyNAS duo. I think it's a good piece of kit and serves my other PCs well. However, I do not like the limitations to upgrade the hard discs and would rather have the benefits of raid with added storage capacity. I was thinking about doing away with the Readynas DUO (damn it's loud) and building a FreeNAS from scratch.

What I wanted to know is how well does it work as an itunes server and communicate with DLNA compatible devices, such as my PS3 & XBOX 360?

    Any advice is always appreciated.

Freenas can do all the things you've listed and it does them well.

How much would you say it would cost to build a freenas pc from scratch?
This will be my next project as I am just finishing off my i7 build.
