if it is the pot on the left hand side connect the leg on its own and one of the other two. if that makjes sense. -- took me soo long to write those two lines i see u have already worked it out.
Opposite, they limit the transistor base current to a safe value. With no resistor, current path from a 4017 output is diode - base/emitter junction (effectively another diode) - ground, so it's easy to overload the 4017.
All right i am just posting a quick update....unfortunently no pictures yet....dam <note to self: Buy a digital camera....SOON> Well i have finished wiring up the "R" "H" LED arrays. I have not hooked them up in parallel yet, i am goign to wait until i have secured them to the plexi glass until i connect them up, that way I can weeve the wires around so that I don't have so much of a mess. Hopefully i will have the circuit in a testable stage by this Sunday, 5-9-04, but i have been really busy between tennis and studying for my AP exam. But saturday and sunday i shall work hard and long. Thanks for everyone's help and patients!!!!
