Windows Really need help!!

    I would be very greatful if someone could tell me every step in great detail to format my HD, re-install windows and have everything work as if I just got my pc. Thanks in advance. :thumb:

    1. Go to BIOS (pres the del key) while the system is booting up.
    2. Go to advaced settings or somehting like that(my bios if different)
    3. go to first boot device and select CDROM
    4. stick your OS cd in
    5. Save to the BIOS and it will reboot.
    6. your CD will start, follow the directions :D

    Thanks a lot :D But I'm still confused about how to actually format my hd completely.

    The setup procedure will handle that for you.

    If yo uare installing 2K, you will have to perform a full (read: slow) format of the entire drive prior to completing the text mode portion of the setup.

    If you are installing XP, then at the same point in the setup as 2K, you are give the option to do a *FAST* format (which just rewrites the file table) or a full format (which rewrites the file table and changes the flags on the files in the hard drive should any exist).

    Either way, the OS install will handle the partitioning and formating for you. You just have to follow the instructions. It will not lead you wrong.
