Ok i no the answer to this is gunna be like "for better games man".But one very serious question is......Why the hell do ppl spend like 328904034908 dollars on computers.i got no problem with it but seriously.....I just seen a set up with a i7 extreme, quad sli 295gtx,2 1tb hdd,12gb of ram.and a bunch of other crap...the total was over 7grand......hmm for a computer!!!
This seems a little insaine....or 2 some something cool....
i've built 1 gaming rig so far...i mean if your that anal that you need every game maxed out....invest in a gun and 2 bullets...

here is my question...What is the max you will spend on a gaming rig....And why that much

the max i would personal spend is about 1400-1500 nothing more

My i7 rig in progress is going to end up being about $3000 once everything is said and done. Do I need to spend that much to get a great performing machine? No. Why then? Because I'm using some of the very best hardware I can find. The Classified board alone was over $400, processor $280, PSU $330... I also am building the pc for looks though, with a red and black theme, and I need the components to match. Because of that, I'm willing to pay a bit more for the right hardware.

All personal opinions of course, and in all honesty my next computer build probably won't be so over-the-top, but I would like to have ONE build that's EXACTLY how I want it, ya know?

Would you like to elaborate on that? I'm concerned.:eyebrow:

I could put together a killer gaming rig for £1500. I know you could spend more, or less. But that figure, i'd be comfortable with, and i'd get the compnents I wanted, without going ridiculous.

If money were no object......that's a different matter entirely;)

Sorry, I just remember comedies involving mentions of false teeth... And it did stick. ;)

In response to you for real, a lot of the high-end companies have uses beyond gaming. CUDA means that a top-line overclocked i7 and Quad-SLI can tear through video rendering infinitely faster than anything else.

For some people, it's just a labour of love. My other labour is music. I've spent a (not so) small fortune on guitars and amplifiers. Not that I need any of them, but when I'm up on stage, I have the best I can have. It's my passion.

I think it's a bit demeaning to say that people should go kill themselves if they care about how games look on their computer, but that's your opinion. People wouldn't make compromises if money was no object, but it is. Sigh...

Why do people modify there cars or spend a fortune on fancy super fast imported cars when the speed limit is ~100Km/h, and 50Km/h in the streets? Same reasons.

Spending a lot on a computer is understandable, if they use it the provided power. A lot of people do. For many it's for games, but for more reason as well. I know several do computation arts and rendering is a pain to wait, so they need super fast systems, to reduce this time, so that instead of waiting 1 hours and see that you screwed up your work, you wait 5min and you see the results. And they game on the same system.

But then you have people that spend a fortune on the computers because they either can and want to show off how rich they are, or because they have a small thingy and wants to hide it by getting these things, like that Family Guy episode with Peter and guns :)
