   is there some way to make realvideo files work in MCE, or alternatively, what would be the easiest way to turn about 4GB of realvideos into something MCE likes

   uh, delete them? realvideo sucks
   
   Try looking at doom9 - there is conversion tools out there. Make em avi and it should be happy.
