I just finished watching the second film. Very very cool. It's also very, very clear that Hideaki Anno isn't depressed anymore. :thumb:

as much as i love evangelion the constant umming and ahhing of shinji does seriously piss me off by the end, especially if ive been watching all the episodes, it reaches ridiculous levels at some point.

tbh this kind of character ruined anime for me a bit, stopped watching Gantz too because watching someone sweat and say "NNNNGGGG" while trying to decide whether to the pull the trigger is not my idea of fun. even 30% less NNNNNGGGGing and sweating would be fine, but alas, it seems to be the main character in anime you either have to be incredibly bitch like and indecisive or a completely hard ass killing machine, or a girl with massive breasts in a ridiculous costume, or a slightly worryingly young girl in a skimpy outfit.

i love the japanese but they do seem rather crazy to western eyes, and how an entire nation can harbour a panty fetish for the best part of 30 years is beyond me

Ahh I hate you guys right now. If I'm lucky I'll get the Blu Rays in 6 weeks, and I've preordered from Amazon. I bet it's because of this useless German dub nobody will ever listen to. :(

And I am sure the movies will be awesome no matter what you say. :D

I certainly think they are. :D

It's almost like Shinji and Warhammer 40,000, only without the Warhammer 40k. Add a dash of Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann and you have the new films.

quite, i first saw an episode long ago but never really got into it, i tried again about 6 months later and blew the entire series in 2 days,

however it is nowhere near as awesome as Patlabor of which i have all the tv series (out of print) on disc and, this is the awesome part, (sorry i gotta show off here)

ever heard of the LEC set? basically its a remaster of the first 2 movies to celebrate its 20th aniversary and by remaster i dont mean a shitty run through with a premiere HD filter.

they reanimated the film frame by frame and re recorded the casts original dialogue, they got Kenji Kawaii to rebuild his score in 96/24 DTS, tossed in a complete guide to the patlabor universe and the copies of the original script/screenplay. To make it even more awesome it was limited to 1000 prints of each movie with the numbers actually stamped into the box design (ive no. 0269 and 0946). hot damn they sold like ****ing wildfire, took some string pulling but i got em both from the US for around 80 quid each.

they did a re-release of 10k a few years later but iirc something was missing from the sets. cant remember what tho.
