I don't use social media or spend a lot of time texting on the phone which is why I only have a cheap basic mobile but I'm spending more time on my hobby of photography and want to use a Depth of Field app, so I need a smartphone but I know next to nothing about phones I have no preference for brand or operating system I just need a basic pay as you go smartphone, a quick look in the local tesco and the cheapest is a sony or LG around £65, is there anything cheaper that's worth buying or is that about the entry level price? Any advice appreciated.
Might be worth checking what OS your prefered app uses before you make your choice. i.e. if the one you want to use is only available on iOS, its pointless going Windows or Android.
Kronos has a Nokia 520 for sale in the marketplace at the moment for £60 here . It's a quick little phone that would suit as a first smartphone as long as you can get a depth of field app on windows phones.
Moto G or Lumia 520, both are decent devices... Both are available unlocked for not that much money...
If you want a really good camera it might be worth spending a bit more for a Lumia 925? You can get them for £160 second hand or just over £200 new
Probably a Moto G then unless anything similar has been released since I last checked. You may be able to get an Android smartphone for less money (like you mention, £65 and up) but the drop off in specs and general experience is pretty severe in my experience. Cheaper but poor value in the long run.
