I've just ordered the compro DVB-T200 from microdirect for £45 including postage, should be here on thurs so will let you know how it fairs. Is it for a media PC? or just a normal pc?
If I can't hook one of these cards up to the main house aerial is there a really crap chance of good reception or do these come with inbuilt things?
I have seen a couple with supplied mini aerials, but success depends on loaction. Living in London you _should_ be okay.
Oops, I need to change that, I'm in Portsmouth and my current Hauppage TV card can't pick up any terrestrial TV clearly with a mini aerial I have, bu the TV downstairs linked to the main aerial is fine.
Your success with _digital_ might be different however. ---- If anyone else has any recommendations / comments they will be most welcome.
Yeah, not sure i should take the risk though I mean, we have digital downstairs and that too is on the main aerial and is perfect, but I can't hook up to it from my room. I could live with just freeview downstairs, but I'm greedy and sometimes what I want to watch clashes with what my housemates want to watch
right, ive had my compro dvb-t200 a few days now (microdirect got it to me by tues, not thurs like i expected), the performance from the actual card itself is pretty damn good, the included software isnt bad, although it has a couple of flaws. The remote and scheduled startup and shutdown is absolutely superb, means i can be super lazy and not have to leave my bed to turn the pc on I have mine patched into the main house ariel with an extra booster on top of the normal 4 way booster/hub we have up in the loft, without the additional booster i got about 20% signal strength (not enough to get any picture) but with the booster i am getting between 80% and 100% signal all the time, this gives exceptional picture quality with no glitches at all. My one current moan is that i cant get it to work with GB-PVR, but thats something im working on with advice from the support forum. All in all i'd say the card perferms exceptionally for the money, the remote is easy to use and managed to do every task ive needed.
thank you very much for the mini-review Unless anybody has any other recommendations, I think I'll go for that one... edit: doesn't look like that can receive digital radio - can it?
If you mean DAB then no tv card I know off can pick DAB, but if you mean the dvb-t radio channels its down to the software whether they are supported.
Hmm, I was fairly sure I had seen the support elsewhere, but perhaps you're right. A few years ago I had a TV card which picked up FM as well, maybe I'm getting mixed up.
