Steam accepts Paypal, well the UK version does.

My other plays her DS mostly, loves any puzzle games but occasionally plays peggle or bookworm on the PC.

Get her a Wii and Lego Indy or Super Mario Bros and a second controller and play with her. Getting her a game so that you can just play yours is lame.

Heroes of Might and Magic 3 was the last game my missus played - but that was a long time ago!

    Couldn't agree more - it's a great laugh.

    lol :D

If you don't want to see any MW2, AC2 or whatever, how about LittleBigPlanet?
The mine levels had the mrs in stitches as I fell to my death for the umpteenth time.

    Did anyone mention Osmos yet?

Im not sure if you would be able to pay for it though with your bank providing that service.

Did she try crayon physics? Bit of the same idea as world of goo.

Have a look on experimental gameplay project, there are some other nice - and free! - games by Kyle Gabler (goo guy). I recommend Attack of the swarm :D
Most of them are pretty short, but all of them together could give you about a day of quiet playing time ;)

Machinarium has been mentioned - good one!

    Flow?

Maybe Spore? Don't know if the subscription would work in south africa though..

My wife has been going through the various free MSN games, and came upon a Bejeweled clone called "Bubble Town". After playing the free version for probably 15 hours, I told her to just buy the deluxe version.
    http://www.bigfishgames.com/download-games/4228/bubble-town/index.html

Its basically a fancier version of Bubble Bobble/Bejeweled/hundreds of other clones, but the board moves around a lot and the art is cool. I probably wouldn't buy it for myself, but my wife freaking loves it on her laptop.

you could get some one to buy it for you and send you the invite/gift thing.

it needs some one to register with steam, they can then buy it and email it to you as a gift.

Another steam game thats a bit different is portal, if you get steam there is a free demo.

Does that work internationally? If I am German and he is not? If so, I would actually do that. Just saying.

thanks for the suggestions... after getting frustrated with not finding any of the old PNC adventures here (Grim Fandango, Broken Sword, etc), I went and bought another copy of StarCraft/BW. Turns out she like that... who would have thought... :D
