ok, havn't bought one in a while and want it to be big..... say 120gb would be nice, also with 8mb of cash and 7200rpm....

now all i need to kno is where is the cheapest place that sells them and also what is the best? the only thing i can see that maxtor has over the wd is the ata 133 but that doesn't really mean much in true tests. so whats better? wd, maxtor or something else?

    thanks guys.

Hitachi? their 120/160 7200 8mb drives are meant to very fast and nice and quiet as well... Not sure about prices but i think they were no more than WD/maxtor last time i looked....

any maxtor, seagate or western digital will be fine. Although I have heard the latter are performing poorly at the moment!!

I had a maxtor fail on me in the less than a year of having it, it was one of the 80gig D740 thingys or whatever they're called. Got two more maxtor drives that are working fine, one 80gig DM+9 ata and another 120gig of the sata variety.

Just ordered one of these for £83 inc deliv. Should receive it on Thursday as a replacement for my Barracuda IV which has 11 bad sectors and now takes 7 mins to boot.

Best price ive seen for a 160gb 8mb cache drive. ;)

I've just recieved mine today - will get round to ghosting windows across to it tomorrow from my not overly fast (but quiet) 700.7 seagate.
