As per the subject, I'm after something like iPhoto but for windows. Something that can search my drives for relevant media, sort out duplicates to be removed from the library and also allow bulk deletion of selected images. Of course I can Google but knowing you lovely lot has always put me right in the past!
Not specifically what you're after but in the interim if you want to find duplicate files you can delete in bulk iirc ccleaner has that option.
Thanks for that one - I'll take a look... my problem is I'm trying to pull back everything over the cloud as well as various hard drives so I know I've got a bunch of duplicates... but they range differently in file sizes due to a) Thumbnails, b) Uploads and downloads from Google Photos (the originals and Googles own space saving files) c) old Aperture/ iPhoto files.
Not had a change to look at it, but I'm about to try https://www.xnview.com/en/ at work to batch convert Webp images to Jpeg. Looks like it has a duplicate finder among other things.
I know it means dealing with Adobe crapware but isn't Bridge technically free? The only '...like iPhoto' things that pops to mind is for the pingu side aside of the aisle [Shotwell]
Wierdly enough I still have Picassa installed, despite Google discontinuing it years ago. I got the last version of the package before they removed it. I don't do a lot of image manipulation but when I do, I use that. Lightweight, simple, stable and fully functional without any Google or internet interaction. You may even be able to find a copy of the last version installer around the web - just make sure it isn't dodgy. Version 3.9.141 was the final version. Edit: found it here... Picasa.en.softonic.com It is also on oldversion.com. Usual caveats apply when downloading something.
