I'm looking for a new HSF because my globalwin CAKII-68 just doesn't cut the mustard, I have an XP1900+ and need something to keep it around the at least 30C area at idle. I'd prefer it if it were not of the bolt on kind as i really don't fancy taking my mobo out to fit the fixings, any ideas ?
Im using an Akasa AK824cu and in my opinion its one of the most underated heatsinks on the market. P.S. My CPU idles at about 31c with this heatsink
i take it that those'll get hotter than my xp1900, so i'll get one of them akasa HSFs then m8, ta for the info
im using a swiftech mcx-462 and it have a 2200+ @ 1950mhz 1.775v it is a bolt on but i prefer it as it just gives me peace of mind, i did have a noice control silverado on it but it just kinda got loose over time and a had to check up on it every week or so to make sure it was tight, and i only needs to be bolted on once. swiftech threw a pc out of a 2nd story window to *ahem* "test" the heatsink and the core was fine (mind you teh case and motherboard was a bit "nonfunctional" i dont use teh stock fan on it tho (delta too noisy for me) im using a 34cfm papst and its nice and quiet and keeps it at about teh 40c at load and about 32c at idle mark
The best aircooled heatsink as far as I am aware is still the ALPHA8045 which I currently use as do many overclockers on these forums. My temps are around 40.C on my 1900+, 31.C on a 2400+ is very impressive however I don't trust Akasa products at all after i bought a faulty Silver Mountain made by them which killed 2 Athlon 1600+ chips last year. Maybe just bad look though best bet is to read reveiws on both.
Good question man! Cos i need a new HSF too! My Athlon XP 2100, Idles at 63C~ And that's with both sides of the case unscrewed!! But I blame the dodgy sensors on the Abit KD7 Btw Kevo, is the packaged fan any good? Ak.
