Not sure where this sort of thread was supposed to go so... I got my tax refund today so my 1st purchase is going to be a new chair to keep me comfy through the winter. My budget is about £50 and one that's caught my eye was this but some of the reviews are pretty bad. There's also Viking and Argos. Anyone got any suggestions???
Don't get the Argos one, it's awful, the other two don't look too great either. You're gonna have to pay a lot to get a decent chair, a cheaper one might be good initially but it won't last more than a few months before becoming uncomfortable. Luckily I replaced my Argos one with one from work when we moved offices for only £15 and it's a really good chair.
I'll steer clear of the Argos one then. I know you have to pay a lot but I think I can improve on what I've got just now for ~£50. I'll keep looking but I can't see me going above £60 for one.
I've got the older version of the VikingDirect one, it's still going 4 years later! I had to buy some more foam for the seat base this year as it's gone flat, but for £40 it was a bargain.
I've just checked Quidco and they do 9% cashback and free delivery for Viking orders! Looks like Viking is the way forward!
Looked at it while there, and didn't understand why anyone would pay that much for it. Just shows how personal something like a chair is! I got the Verner: http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/70163890/ Very happy with it so far.
Bit too much for the budget but it does look nice, well the black one anyway. No stock in Glasgow or Edinburgh so it's a non starter, cheers anyway!
In issue 99 of Custom PC they did a whole section on chairs. In the end it seems you get what you pay for (mostly!). The winners were; 1. HH Solutions Cairo Plus Ergonomic Chair with Headrest @ £350 from staples. 2. PLEDGE Solar SOL7MINFB @ £157 from www.just-office-furniture.co.uk Unfortunately the chairs in your price range didn't fare too well.
Well, you only get one back and it is probably the most important piece of office equipment you will own ;-)
If i was you and was looking for a cheap chair, i would look round some 2nd hand furnture places in Glasgow. I'm sure you could pick up something decent for £50.
Well I won a decent amount of money on the football this weekend so I'll go for the Markus and see what all the fuss is about. Only problem is IKEA don't seem to do deliveries in Scotland (weird) so I'll need to get a bus out to Braehead and carry it home... It better be worth it!
