I bought a wireless Belkin G PCI card about a year ago, but ever since it has been having poor conenctivity and drops out about once an hour. Windows (Vista) says it is still connected to the router, but can't work out what network it is on and does not show a link to the Internet. The problem is I am pretty close to the router and the connection rarely drops from the Internet, but it only does this on my PC. It will not let me connect to the Internet even though the router is connected. The problem is solved by hitting the 'assign new IP address' button when the Windows box comes up.

I think this is because the Belkin card does not have supported Vista drivers (tried BETA ones but didn't help). I am looking for a new one, so could someone please recommend a good (cheapish) wireless G card that is known to work in Vista (32-bit)? I am using a Netgear router, if that helps.

    Your input is appreciated.

If you have a spare PCI-E slot, 1x, 4x or 16x, the Abit Airpace Wifi PCI-E.

I have one myself, works flawlessly. at £9, a steal.

Thanks a lot. I especially like the moveable antenna. Are you using Vista, and which router do you have?

    Thanks!

Yes, using Vista x64, and a Netgear DG834GT with custom firmware.
The antenna is very handy if you've got you PC tucked away under a desk, or similar.

Thanks a lot. I will most likely buy that tonight. For £9 it is rude not to!

I just ordered the Abit one. Although I didn't order from Scan because they were asking a ridiculous £7 for delivery on something worth only £9. I ordered it from MicroDirect (even though I've had a bad experience buying from them before) for £12 delivered.

I think if this doesn't work I may just switch to a wired network.

Simply awesome little card - been using for a couple of months now and it's been brilliant. External antenna was a real surprise on a card costing less than a tenner ... cabling is great quality too. Worked 1st time with Vista 64 for me.

OK it just arrived today and it is installed and working. So far great card, working in Vista 32-bit. Thanks for the advice guys!
