    Hello guys,

So it was my birthday saturday and got myself some money from family that I wanted to put towards some new headphones for myself.

I have upto ~£110/£120 to spend and they can either be:

I dont mind in-ear or on ear but they will be used mainly for music and some work in the gym so need to be both comfy, robust, look cool, sound awesome.

I have listened to my friends beats but think I can do better what do you think?

    Matt

At that price range and for the gym?

I'd probably settle for the Shure SE215's IEM's at around £70-80. Based on the same shell as the SE425's and when I tried them they were insanely comfy and come with a set of comply earbuds.

Sound very good for the price, certainly not worth paying extra for the SE315's over them.

I haven't listened to any of the in-ear Beats, but the Shure's don't have the massive mid-bass thump the over-ear Beats provide, they are excellent for vocal and acoustic music and perform well with most genres(other than the ultra low bass line 5Hz WUBWUBWUB tracks).

I had some beats for about £70 that broke in under a year (admittedly regular everyday use but still) bought myself some Sennheisers for about £30-40 and can't tell the difference despite the difference in price.

Wouldn't know what to suggest for your money except to stay away from Beats. They seem more about image than quality IMO.

Anything by AKG, if you even contemplate getting beats then you should serious re-evaluate your life.

A little outside of your budget but you should take a look at the HD 25s by sennheiser, they are very well acclaimed. I have a pair on the way myself.

I use a set of sennheiser HD465s. Very good clear quality headphones. Bit big but they have a good depth and fairly even response across the range.

    Hope this helps

Oh yeah, you look like a complete asshat, but I recieved a pair from the missus last Xmas and looks aside, they sound great (provided you keep plenty of AAAs handy for the ANC)

I swear by MDR-V6s. Despite them having a bit too much midrange. The ****'s fantastic owing to it's bulletproof durability.

I picked up a set of Grado SR60i headphones recently and they're very nice indeed. Not for use where they'll disturb others though (as are most Grados) as they are open-backed and therefore leak noise like a sieve. They sound brilliant, though.
