I've become a bit bored of my current selection of music, I listen to music for probably 8 hours a day at least at uni, so I get bored quite easily....just seems a bit stale these days, what I have now. I'm after some recommendations basically, hopefully K, Penski or some other of our other resident experts can guide me in the right direction.

Theres no specific genre I want to listen to, if I just list some bands I like/dislike then hopefully you can guide me in the right direction...shouldn't be too hard to recommend some new stuff :)

Wow, you've got a nice taste there! Saw the Bravery last month, and seeing Bloc Party in October :) Haven't heard of the counting crows though, but judging by your taste, I'm gonna have to listen to them

Cheers for the suggestions so far, in the process of trying to track down some of it. QOTSA, Audioslave, Nirvana, Incubus...heard already, like them all :). Radiohead, I like, but jeez some of its depressing, music to kill yourself too some of it. Muse just do nothing for me, can't explain why...just, bleh.

Just borrowed a mates Pennywise CD, me likes :cooldude:

Ye, most of J4cks are good

Wheres the techno techno dance dance gone Will?

Athelete, Kasier Chiefs, Me against them, 5 O clock Heroes are pretty good also for quieter tastes..

In reference to Sonic Youth, I think you should try:

    The Velvet Underground
    Dinosaur Jr.
    Joy Division
    New Order
    My Bloody Valentine
    Slowdive
    Ride
    Curve
    Catherine Wheel
    Swans

    Alt-rock and/or shoegazer bands, mainly.
