i'd recommend the sopranos, arguably one of the best tv series made. madmen and the waling dead is on my to watch list, whenever i get round to it.
Sons of Anarchy I'm watching the latest series online and love it, Supernatural is also bloody brilliant. And not forgeting Nikita and How I Met Your Mother. If you have ever seen Nikita the movie, La Femme Nikita the original series you will love it. Maggie Q kicking ass.
erm, as we're all geeks etc. why oh why has no one mentioned THE BIG BANG THEORY?. Ive just finished Falling Skies, i rather enjoyed it, produced by Steven Spielberg. Can't wait for his newest release, The River. Couldnt recommend the CSI's enough tbh, same with NCIS and Law and order. I also enjoyed, Chris Ryans, Strike Back. =)
I fyou like old stuff: I just finished "Get Smart" Am in the middle of "Allo Allo" And just started "24" (yes, I missed that one) You could try "I dream of Jeanny"
Boardwalk Empire is superb but very tough going I find. Rewatching is important. The Sopranos is plain fantastic. I'm on probably my 15th watch through and I still love it. Utterly groundbreaking show. Stargate Universe has a really good second season but I do wonder if it's pointlessly short. Dexter's last season I agree was poor but the current season is looking very good so far IMO. What about The West Wing? Also, Twin Peaks. Classic TV.
just watched the pilot of Terra Nova. Its ok, still have another 4 episodes to watch to see if it improves. Big budget, just hoping it lives upto that.
Being Human (UK Version is miles better than the US Version - no offence to any Americans). The Mentalist is pretty good but is kind of repetitive (which is not uncommon). + 1 for Breaking Bad + 1 for The Sopranos + 1 for Misfits
So another great thread revive - it's worth it though as this is a truly useful thread. I've since finished watching the Sopranos and Deadwood, both of which are some of the best shows I've ever seen. Deadwood has massively rekindled my love of westerns, sent me back to Unforgiven and Gran Torino, need to start a western thread I think! There's a lot of new series about which I'm giving a go: -Person of Interest - utter crap, just dont bother. -Alcatraz - not brilliant, but good enough that you'll watch it on a boring evening. -Terra Nova - I actually really enjoy it, it's not clever and it's not well written, but it has frikkin dinosaurs! -Stargate Atlantis - I loved SG:1 and never fancies SG:A, but I've been burning through it and while it's not as good, it is pretty loveable overall, there's some rubbish episodes, but it keeps plodding along nicely. Next up is a straight shoot-out between: -Boardwalk Empire -Entourage -Mad Men Which will I watch first!
I'm just over 1/2 way through the 1st season of boardwalk empire and it's a great show. Entourage I also enjoyed. I really enjoyed breaking bad though as stated Walter's wife is really annoying. What I'm currently watching / watched that hasn't been listed: How I Met Your Mother Modern Family Big Bang Theory Sons of Anarchy Spartacus Top Gear All depends what you're after but I've enjoyed the ones listed above along with Game of Thrones Entourage Breaking Bad Rome Camelot (wasn't too crazy about it) The legend of the seeker (wasn't all to crazy about this either, though the book series was alright) A friend also told me a show called Justified that's supposed to be good. It's about a marine officer or something I believe.
Arrested Development is one you should add to the list, as is Curb Your Enthusiasm. Two cult comedies that deserve their acclaim. Another is Eastbound and Down, and then the king of mockumentaries, Trailer Park Boys. Those should give you some laughs!! I also finished watching a series called Boss the other day which doesn't seem to get much of a mention, it stars Kelsey Grammer, but by god is it a brilliant show. Haven't watched Mad Men but defo give Boardwalk Empire a shout, as you can watch two seasons outright, the finale of the second season being quite frankly about the best 60 odd minutes of television EVER.
Some great shows mentioned. Entourage is my favourite of the one's next on your list. Would also recommend Homeland and The Borgias (Jeremy Irons Cheesecake).
Fringe - awesome. Falling Skies - great but would prefer more action and less emotional babble Alcatraz - really starting to enjoy this Battlestar - need I say more? Homeland - good twists
