I'm a complete shuttle n00bie and as im upgrading my main rig to A64 thought that i'd convert my current set up to a shuttle:

    Barton 2600XP+
    512mb Corsair xms PC3200
    256mb Crucial PC3200
    80GB Samsung Spinpoint IDE
    Geforce 4 Ti4600 128mb AGP

Onboard sound would be needed, possibly Lan too.

So i would like some suggestions for which shuttle to go for. Would like it to look nice (obviously!) will spend around £150-£160ish.

    Thanks for your help :)

    SN45

If you want to reuse the graphics card get the SN45v2 its a good setup with onboard lan and 5.1 sound.

But you may also want to consider the Biostar SFFs. I have built a 210V and Ive also got a 200N (along with an SN45v2) both have on-board graphics (the 200N is nForce2 so its a GeForce4mx) , sound and lan and the Biostars tend to be cheaper.

In fact the 200N is about £30 cheaper (£111 at microdirect) than the SN45 (£145 same place) and both are nForce2 boards but the 200N also has SATA.

From my experience both are quiet, for info on the Biostar's check www.biostar-usa.com

Get the v3 of the sn45 as it has sata support and better sempron support :)

Scan have them in , its the only place that has so far but the rest will have them soon :)

They all support IDE as well.

scan are out of stock on the v3 as is aria who also stock them.

Might mean the v2's will be cheaper. Do you need SATA though, as the V3's are quite close to the top of your price bracket (with me its anything to save a few pounds)

nope i don't need SATA at the moment, or at least don't see me using it in the shuttle. So is that the only main advantage of the V3 over the V2? or does it look different?

always looking to save a few pounds! :hehe:

Could be an improved BIOS aswell as better Semprom support. I imagine it'll just be tweaks to the V2 :) .

The v2 and v3 look exactly the same, both have had bios updates so both can handle sempron processors therefore the only difference I can see is that the v3 now has SATA

Yup, that's the only difference. I've recently got one and the speed improvement over my old rig (2 years old) is impressive. I seem to have struck a bargin though as my second hand one has the 250W PSU in it :D
