Hi everyone, my first post so here goes

My P4 advent pc finally gave up the ghost after 5 years of faithful service and i'm going to replace it with an i5 750 based self build. Due to the joys of a 3 day week i'm going to have to recycle my old 17" lcd monitor for the foreseeable future. (along with a few hours here and there on a 32" toshiba lcd)

My question is simply what card you recommend for 1280 x 1024 with all settings maxed out in Far Cry 2, Crysis , GTAIV, and BHD:teamsabre. The last gfx card i bought was a 6800gt so i'm a little rusty! DX11 probably isn't much of a concern for the games I want to play now as my ps3 handles any upcoming releases.

My budget is about 160-180 stg.

p.s. any harm re-using my old advent case (with new psu of course) until work picks up?

    cheers,

    mark.

ati HD5770 will suit that resolution just fine.

dont reuse the case as the airflow will be terrible.

with the extra change you get from the HD5770 (the card is about 120-130 quid) but an antec 300 and use that.

Most probably 5770 with that budget, but if you arent bothered by DX11 then definately this 1GB 4890.
In fact I'd say the 4890 over the 5770 :)

Have fun maxing out GTA4 on a 5770, a 4890 is a better option in terms of performance, but it costs more and uses more power.
Plus DX11 on a 5770 is pushing it a little, it has similar performance to a 4870 which struggles with Crysis at anything above 1280x1024, even then it's dodgy.
