Hi, my ATi 2900xt decided to die on me ... so had to go back to my old nvidia 6800gs :/ any one reccomand a graphic card that goes with my current pc and will not have a bottleneck? below is my current pc setup Cpu : DualCore AMD Athlon 64 X2, 2000 MHz (10 x 200) 3800+ Mobo DFI LANPARTY UT nF4 Ultra-D Motherboard Chipset nVIDIA nForce4, AMD Hammer Gfx :NVIDIA GeForce 6800 GS (256 MB) (overclocked) Hdd : WDC 320GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache Ram :2048 MB - DIMM3: Kingston K 1 GB PC3200 DDR SDRAM (3.0-3-3-8 @ 200 MHz) (2.5-3-3-7 @ 166 MHz) - DIMM4: Corsair Value Select VS1GB400C3 1 GB PC3200 DDR SDRAM (3.0-3-3-8 @ 200 MHz) (2.5-3-3-7 @ 166 MHz) Psu :Hiper 600w
a good budget card would be something like the 4850 or if you can stretch to a decent amount of money the 1GIG 4870 depends on what you want to do with the card....Crysis-esq games or just things like text based footy manager games???
currently im playing x-men origins, but will also try and play The Saboteur im asking to check which is the best graphic card to buy since my cpu is a bit old and will have a bottleneck
if you want to play the saboteur then pick an nvidia card - you should be able to get a gtx260 for 120 quid. http://www.ebuyer.com/product/160748
I would look at the ATI HD 4890, 5770 or (as already suggested) Nvidia Geforce GTX 260 (but 216 and not 192), however I would think that your CPU will be the bottleneck for any of these graphic cards, especially if it is @ stock clocks... ________ Recall wellbutrin
never overclocked my cpu but i dont think that ill get some good results because of my ram. when overclocking what temps must they not exceed ? for the cpu, motherboard and vga
changed fsb...to 210 and currently cpu is @2100mhz if i increase more pc will become unstable anyone knows a good overclocking guide?
NF4 chipsets are epic on a DFI board, however they get very toasty and i killed mine with a 8800GTS installed, as it covered the fan. And maybe the fact that it was pushing 320mhz FSB....
couldnt you place the vga in the other pci and it wouldnt cover the fan ? also ... anyone knows about an overclocking guide ? thanks
I have the same CPU and mine is running at 2350Mhz with a slight overvolt under a Freezer 7 Pro. I've also got 4 PC3200 DIMMs and they're all coping fine. Bit of a boost from stock. As for the GPU, I'd go 260 with your requirements, but your core hardware will be a bottleneck for just about anything bar a 4350 tbh.
I'd say the 4650/9600GT will do you fine, a 4770 if you want, no need to spend anymore If you want to spend more, get the 5770, DX11, cooler and quieter than GPUs around the same price
