Whenever i buy hardware i usually buy from: (In order of preferred site)
    1. Overclockers
    2. Scan
    3. Novatech

I havnt bought anything in a really long time, and am due an upgrade, so as usual i browse the custompc forum (now bit-tech) to get an idea of what items are recommended etc. However on this thread i found, 2 or more people said that they would avoid buying from overclockers.

So i was wondering what retailers to you try to avoid and why, and which retailers do you recommend and why?

Oh dear, don't buy from OcUK... Search for that on these forums an you'll see why.

I usually always get my stuff from scan or ebuyer. Sometimes Aria if its a large enough amount to compensate for delivery.

Also used novatech and specialtech, both only once iirc, but good service.

Ebuyer and Scan have very good prices, although recently Scan has raised prices for shipping so if you are buying small items look elsewhere. I have always found OCers to be expensive. You can sometimes get good buys at Play.com as well; I bought me PSU from them.

    1. ebuyer - for the low prices on most of their stuff
    2. Novatech - for next day free delivery and good customer support
    3. Scan - for fantastic customer support
    4. OCuk - for those deals, their support is not that bad

i usually go for one on that list that have the cheapest item i want, in stock. ebuyer usually wins on that, prefer Novatech because im a regular member in their forum.

I've had good experiences with Aria, although I've got to make my 2nd RMA on my screen soon so I'll get back to you after that.

Edit: Scan have always been good for me too, although everyone else has said that so their didn't seem much point in saying it.

Scan and Ebuyer are decent if you live on mainland UK, but if you live elsewhere in the UK (ie. the islands etc) their delivery is expensive, especially Scan's, as they don't/won't use Royal Mail for smallish items, but insist on using Citylink.

OcUK do use Royal Mail and so if I can get it there with the cheapest delivery, I buy from them. Have bought a lot stuff from OcUK and never had any problems.

Have you ever bought from OcUK, have you ever had any dealings with them?

I do notice you live in Finliand!

I buy exclusively from Ebuyer and Scan - because neither has let me down before, and they have good prices and a good selection.

I can vouch for not buying from OCUK, I've bought stuff from them a few times, big orders, I've found to be fine, but not the small ones :S

Apparently having 10+ of an item in stock isn't exactly that. More like...1.

Just avoid them like the plague...

SCAN and Ebuyer get my vote.

No, never bought anything from them. But I've seen a couple of threads on this forum which tell about OcUK's great :)rolleyes:) customer support... And TBH I really advise you to avoid them if those stories are true.

I have used OcUK for large and small orders over a number of years now and not had any problems and as long as they continue to give me a delivery price that is not extortionate I will continue to use them.

I recently went to buy an Intel Q9550 from Scan, once put into the "basket" and I signed in to pay etc., the delivery price was ?19+, a total of ?182+, needless to say I looked elsewhere and got it for ?164 + ?7+ RMSD, total ?172. It is not the first time Scan have asked ridiculous amounts to deliver hardware components to me, so they are not at the top of my list to shop from.

In saying this, if I lived on the UK mainland I would get free delivery with both OcUK and Scan and so would simply pick which was the cheapest (including delivery) to buy from... ;)

Scan have only just introduce that lower price for small items too.

I can remember when they used Citylink for everything. You could buy a £2 cable or something, and the delivery would be £7.99.

    1. Ebuyer
    2. Scan
    3. QuietPC

I've used Scan for 4 years without a problem, however, recent revelations about the small print in their RMA policy did give me cause for concern. Very naughty, Scan. But you've never let me down so you've made into my top 3.

OCuk - I'd rather pick peanuts out of poo than order anything from that shower of sh*te again. NEVER, EVER.

Since when? I ordered a wireless card costing £9, and delivery was £6.99, so I went elsewhere.

    Scan and ebuyer.

Very few problems from either, any that I have had have either been minor and sorted out quickly or have been down to CityLink, although they seem to have improved as of late.

Scan have been exceptional for me just recently.

As for OcUK, don't get me started. 1 purchase, 1 return, never shopping there again, long story.
