Or you could get the Seasonic X model, that the Corsair AX model was based on, which can actually be cheaper. :)

Agree, but Seasonic over ~400W is so darn hard to get here in the UK. Sigh..

Budget as in a desktop no gaming build? Yes.

But definitely go for solid name brands when you're looking to build even a low end enthusiast PC.

I'd never skimp on a PSU but that goes hand in hand with knowing how much power your build will draw. No point getting a 1000w PSU when your maximum draw on Furmark barely scratched 650w. A 700-750w branded PSU will be more than sufficient.

I just went onto the internet and used a "PSU Power Calculator" I filled in as much as I could and it told me I only needed a 34w PSU...

    Is this correct?!

Unlikely. List the hardware you plan on using, someone will help you out.

This link tells me that you should be looking at >500W.

That's the most common site that people use for this sort of thing, so if you were on there, then perhaps you forgot to click the 'calculate' button?

Can I ask why the Seasonic X-Series, and the NZXT Hale PSUs aren't on the list? Especially in place of the Enermax Gold PSUs, as they are both cheaper than the Enermax PSUs, and get fantastic JonnyGuru and Hardware Secrets reviews, which, frankly, are the only two review sites that are worth reading about PSUs on (sorry Bit-Tech, though admittedly, I haven't seen a Bit-Tech PSU review...).

Because this list is very old, check the date the thread was started.

What PSU would be best if I need a really quiet supply that is under 500w and within a £50-£60 budget?

    Doesn't a GTX 460 need a minimum 450w?
