Anyone have any favourite mags/books for a budding photographer wishing to improve skills etc? Cheers
www.talkphotography.co.uk I've bought a few photo magazines they have some tips & tricks to use in PP & also when shooting, most of the time watch some youtube videos & google ya heart out. I've looked into books but seem a little intense for my learning style [rather do it & see it done then read it and try it]
I quite like using books as a reference over websites and videos, Just find them easier to digest. Magazines I quite like "Digital SLR Photography" as it has a nice section of monthly projects to follow, and "Digital Photo" which comes with a dvd of video tutorials on how to use photoshop/elements. Books Really like the following The Digital photography book Understanding Exposure Light: Science and Magic edit: and also remember this thread
That sounds kinda cool, just after some paper based reading I can take to bed or read as and when rather than online resources.
There's a great book I read on mastering exposure, I'll grab the ISBN/Title/Author tonight as it had some great tips in it that I found really useful for evaluating scenes rather than relying totally on the in-camera metering system to get the exposure right.
I think that's the one! EDIT: Yes, it is the book by Michael Freeman, called Perfect Exposure. ISBN: 978-1-905814-46-6
