I want to record some of mine and my clans game play, however I sure don't want to pay for it. What free in game recorders do you guys use? I've tried Taksi but when I record everything slow down. I'm not sure if it was the recorder or the server but when I was recording I could see my name, like when you get killed and then 5-10 seconds later I would die and be in the respawn screen. Plus when I looked at my recordings when I move fast the frames don't keep up, I think it was set at 30FPS too.
dude seriously just get fraps, its something silly like a fiver and you'd be amazed at how often you use it.
you shitting me? actually come to think of it I did buy it nearly 10 years ago. thats another bonus as well, free updates.
If it was $5 or $10 then I wouldn't minds so much but it's $40, that's more than I paid for BC2, the game I want to record
I think it's free to use but they stamp a huge water mark on everything and the option are restricted, like only avi output locked a XX FPS. Then again I could be wrong BTW what free video edit programs would you use to cut the clips together
You don't just buy Fraps for one game, it serves you for the rest of your gaming years. The trial version is watermarked and lmited to 30 seconds per clip. Fraps can only output raw .avi whether you have a license or not, however the trial limits you to bitmap screenshots. WMM
If you want to do some Frapsing, I highly recommend a Sandforce SSD if you want to avoid major slowdowns.
I did try moving the destination fold to another drive and that did seem to help. BTW Why would I buy a SSD, I'm asking for free software
I was looking for a good teamspeak overlay and found someone mention this http://www.playclaw.com/index.php, it's a little cheaper than FRAPS and says that it's coded better for multi core systems. The biggest problem I've been having with Taksi is it's killing my frame rate. BTW can anyone recommend a good overlay for teamspeak that works in BC2
By all means grab the trial and let us know how it is. I might give it a go to see how it plays along with all my games but i'm a little skeptical.
I seem to remember x-fire having some sort of capture ability? Could be wrong in that, I've been a paid up member of FRAPS since it was aroudn 10 bucks. And there was a patch just the other day too, so i'm now upgraded. Adobe does a programme called captivate which I should probably be learning for my work, but haven't got round to. also, google "fraps alternative" for ideas http://www.anewmorning.com/2009/01/06/5-free-alternatives-to-fraps/, for example.
Xfire does have a recording function but last time i tried it was fairly crappy. And then there are a bunch of games Xfire doesn't support. At least FRAPS records pretty much anything.
I bought fraps about 5 years ago, all this talk of it has made me want ti back (don't have it installed anymore) where would I find my key? Or am I destined to buy again?
Another question, if I install it on this computer and decide to upgrade to a new computer later would the license move with my computer? I'll give them both a try, from what I've read the playclaw is better. It takes less FPS from your game and it is a bit cheaper
