Right, so the problem started last month. I had Red ALert 2 installed on my PC, but hadn't played it for a couple of months. Then I decided to play it, but an error came up saying that "RA2.exe has encountered an error" or something. So I thought, maybe I should just reinstall it, and the weird thing was that the CD had the same problem! Only this time it said Setup.exe. That got me thinking, maybe there was something wrong with the CD in the first place, so yesterday I bought a new Red Alert 2, and guess what. The same problem! What could it be, and how can I stop it? You don't want a guy missing out on such a great classic like RA2, do you? Thanks
DEP = Data Execution Prevention basically prevents certain "mallicous" code from being run in memory. If you have a A64 or a P4 and XP with Service Pack 2 this could be the problem, also is there another pc there that you have access to that you could try running the game on.
Nope. But it was working fine earlier this year. Is there anyway I can get it to work again? Oh, and a little off topic but, how can I get old DOS games to run on a new PC like mine?
umm, possibly reinstalling windows, in regards to the older dos games, you could try a peice of software called dosbox it works pretty good.
