Red Dead is a great game but its engine feels clumsy and a bit dated, feels especially clumsy in close quarters combat, feels unresponsive, its also apparent when in buildings, feels clunky to control. Especially to something like Assassins Creed 2. But then if you played GTA IV you will know exactly what to expect. Otherwise a great story and atmosphere
****ing amazon haven't posted my copy yet and i cant cancel it as its being 'processed'. Damn i had a weekend with the house to myself so i could have played it uninterrupted too.
Played it on 360 for a bit last night, really excellent intro and the dialogue is great so far - loving it! Agree with Raptorex about the controls, they do feel pretty clumsy. Hope it doesn't begin to detract from the overall experience.
Got it in the mail today! Good fun so far.. Lost the casual horse race and then a game of poker.. Not a great way to start my honourable ways in the wild west!
The suggested link by NuTech with the discount worked well (especially since I didn't think I'd get the game by today!)
at the moment its down as £35 for x360 and £52 for ps3. and then £47 for special edition for PS3. must be something to do with preorder, just found it weird
Picked this up last friday for full price (shudder) but its been completely worth it. I'm only a few hours into the single player but I've been enjoying multi quite a bit more than I expected. Free roam is amazing, especially once you group up with a few good players. There are a ton of assholes online but the sheer variety of gameplay makes it worth it. Oh, and Deadeye is ridiculous in multiplayer. Anybody have it on 360? My tag is Infernal Carpet and I'm down to play.
I got my copy yesterday and must have sank at least 6 hours into it last night and i'm loving every minute. So far this is better than GTA 4 for me and it shows everything Rockstar does well, great writing, immersive world and excellent voice acting. Unfortunately it still has the things they don't do so well to, dodgy controls and combat although the combat is a lot better than any GTA game so far. Does your overall health increase over time as i occasionally have random encounters with groups of bandits who all head shot me from point blank range?
Anyone remember "GUN"? That was like a miniature version, but I enjoyed that too. This is just more of everything. If anyone is playing it on the PS3, I'm gavomatic57 on there too. I've not tried multiplayer yet, but I will when I've finished the story.
Theres some truely amazingly wonderful glitches and bugs in RDR. Not rubbish things like crashes but amazing bugs like flying people. and this abomination : via Sankaku Complex.
This is from the same guy on the same night and its even better! I still have my copy of Gun laying about somewhere. I loved that game. Wish Neversoft would try something like it again.
