Ok, in "Smart PR: Chapter 1," I think they say something about not being a dumbass. Like saying "There's no virus, because this is code that we can't even implement yet. Don't know why it's in the dev build!!! Ooops!"

Some days, I'm really impressed that MS can honestly acknowledge their weaknesses and take steps forward. When you're that big, it must be pretty hard to not say "Eh, XP is still doing fine." Other days, I think they need to shoot their PR dudes. Because, seriously...they must be on drugs or something. Maybe they're smokin' up with Sony's PR heads.

MS has gotten so big, they don't even need good PR anymore. I picture them in a dark smoky room with stacks of money and gold coins on the table, saying "What if Clippy were on your desktop all the time, and you couldn't turn it off! What will they do if they don't like it? Switch to LINUX? Muhahahahahaha! Nancy, send in the hookers."

    Doesn't matter.
Any virus known about before launch will be useless anyway, I doubt Microsoft would risk a virus putting a cloud over launch.

Well that Virus does not attack Vista itself but uses a hole in MSH (Microsoft Command Shell), and rumors are saying that guys at MS were not sure if they would even ship MSH in Vista even before the Virus news. However problem does not go away... if MSH would not ship with Vista, it would still come to light with Microsoft Exchange 2006 or in some other way. So MS is right saying that there is no Virus for Vista, because probably because MSH will not ship with Vista. But fancy arses in MS just transfer the unsafe MSH to other MS department. So they could deal with it because Vista people are busy enaugh... MEhhh damn large companies with their budgets and departments...
