    Hi everyone.
When I use my headphones I have to have the volume(s) set right down, and hence lose precision over the volume control.

Can I add some resistance to the signal to reduce their volume?

Any ideas / suggestions are welcome.

A potentiometer should work, but I don't know what value you should use. I would try a 10K pot (outer two pins to computer signal, middle and one outer pin to headphones.)

Depending on whether you want to adjust the volume or not.

If you don't, then a small value resistor on the ground wire would work, if you do, then a pot on the ground wire would be your best bet. You'd need a lowish value though, I think.

Put the ground in series with pins 2 and 3 irrc :)

it would be best if I can make something with male and female 3.5mm jacks so I can just add it where it plugs in.

%k to 10K is about right, however, if you want individual volume controls for L / R then put one Pot on each signal line, with the middle pin from the mobo and one outer pin to the chanel, same on the other channel.

if you want one 'master' volume, just put the 10K pot on the ground line, with the middle pin fromt he mobo and an outer pin to the headphone ground
