Error report is "Could not connect to EA Online(1)" or something like "EA Online reported an error". These are generic fault codes, but are specific to EA servers. The characteristics for my problem is the passing of credentials from Battlelog to the Origin client results in an authentication failure. Otherwise, when I have started and logged into the Origin client already Battlelog returns the aforementioned errors. There are other reasons for the errors to be reported, I thought that it was "It's caused by a bad link in EA client database", so this is likely - not your problem. In brief I changed my passcode, and was all good. Attempt number one (day 1): Attempt number two (a bit later): Attempt number three (day 2): Then I discovered the plus side to Indian call/support centres: They are available every day of the week, every week of the year. Attempt number four (day 3): Camel Kamal probably didn't understand that I didn't believe that EA are going to be working that hard. After waiting a bit over 50 hours, and being asked to now wait again, this time for 48 long hours, going onto 25th Dec, I decided that they have just been blagging me (I was suspicious before hand). So I reexamine the threads I had read on Battlelog, and thinking of the characteristics I later identified, I had an idea. Attempt number five; Change Origin passcode to smack - this was too short, Change Origin passcode to battlelog, Login to Battlelog, Start a game, It authenticated! Revert passcode, Didn't work, Change Origin passcode to yer right (something w/o special chars), Success. So it was all down to some backward step devs made, in some module (I suspect the browser plugin) that now doesn't like special characters in passcodes. I should explain that the old string, I had used it previously to play BF3 before the problem. I hope it helps someone.
Glad to see you've found a fix. I detest contacting EA support. A bunch of useless muppets the lot of them
I'm gladder. It was my first time trying to deal with them, hopefully I'll never have to think about trying again. Did you notice how they said they knew what was wrong? My imagination as to the arrangement EA has for support is an expensive waste of time. Now I am really curious as to what they were referencing, is there even an actual known problem that techies somewhere are working on? Who knows. I just thank god that they never said "switch it off and back on again".
