I have many users running WinXp. When they call for tech support. I need there computer name...To remote into their pc. It is a pain to walk 50 users a day through getting their computer name. I would like to know if there is a way to get their computer name to display next to their User Name. At the top of the Start Menu. I have found a way to display this info, instead of "My Computer" under the My Computer icon on the desktop. But, my company feels that this would just confuse some of our Novice Users. What I am looking for is a reg hack to display "%USERNAME% on %COMPUTERNAME%" to be displayed at the top of the start menu.

These are so called "Environment Variables" on NT and are passed as variables when a string is evaluated by explorer.

So basically any string thats parsed in this manner, can have those variables put in.

However, you could just tell them to press CTRL + ALT + DEL
