I hate registering for classes. My next semester should include Speech, Digital Circuit Logic, Calculus 2, and Physics for Scientists&Engineers (1).

So today at 2:30 I was able to register. Well I check Calculus 2 and amazingly there are only two sections left. One at 8am in the morning and one at 3pm. So I register for the 3pm one because I know I would never make it to the 8am section. Next I go to register for Digital Circuit Logic. Out of two sections the only one I can take is the 10am one since the other section was during the same time as my Calculus 2 class. Next I go for Speech. This is a requirement for everyone going here. Out of many many sections (like 50 or more) there are 4 open with just a couple of seats left. So I get into the 6pm one.

Now here comes the kicker. Physics has ONE, I repeat, ONE section with a maximum capacity of 110 students. This class needs to be taken your freshman year by EVERYONE in the engineering major. Just the EE major alone has well over double the capacity. I seriously wonder what in the hell they are thinking. I have to have this before Fall next year otherwise I won't be able to take my next EE course which will lead to me graduating late. It just baphels me that a course that is required to be taken in your freshman year by hundereds and hundereds and hundereds of students has a singular section with a capacity of 110. Actually if you look at the number of seats left its negative because they are having to cram people in there. I don't even know if I will be able to get an over ride to get in there. If I can't I'm going to be completely screwed. If at all possible I can't afford to go to school during the summer (as I work full time then and pay for college on my own).

I am getting such a headache... Not to mention the system with which you register was written by apes. You can only view what classes you have twice per session (this is on line) and it times out after 2 minutes. And its not up from midnight until 8am because of "regular maintenance". This is the same for your entire college account. What a joke.

Anyone else have trouble registering...? I'de like to feel I'm not alone... :sigh:

If it makes you feel any better, I just shocked myself when I was working with a few 9v batteries and some wire  . Ah, the sensation! Theres nothing quite like an electric shock...

EDIT: opps forgot to post my comment

honestly if you can't get in my segustion is to go to the class anyways cause they most likely won't take roll and do all the home work like everyone else

then after the class is over see if you can't test out of the class I know several people in my college are doing that and also I still need to reg for my spring classes which will suck

Ok Astrum, while the others may not know what you're going through, i know EXACTLY what you are going through.

I attend the most populous university in America, with around 52,000 students. Our registration process is also a nightmare. The website gets incredibly jammed up the minute you are able to register. I've had classes slip through my fingers within seconds, and only now when I've almost graduated do they have a sort of "on call" list you join so when people drop a class you take their spot.

Not to mention, there's a cheater program to beat the system that continually registers for a class when it's full, so that when someone drops it the program user jacks the spot.

Usually if you show up the class you need and talk to the professor, they'll add you because a significant number of students drop the class due to myriad reasons.

    Anyhow, good luck!

Just went to go search for some fun classes I might want to take (note, EE + fun class = disaster, but I never learn  ). Apparently they stop showing their catalog at 10pm at night for, get this, "maintenance". I can't even look at potential classes I would like to take for the heck of it. Oh well, I won't have time to do it until sometime next week when the classes are sure to be full. :sigh:
