Vista has been going hard on my pc for about 2 years. And it shows. it takes forever to shut down. There are lots and lots of useless programs cluttering the drives. I am going to take the easy route and just do a reinstall.

What programs do you have that you feel are necessary to have?
    anti-virus for example,
    temp monitoring programs,
    anything really.
I want to download things in advance so that when i have vista installed again I will have a list of programs to just go ahead and install to get it set up nice and easy.

    Thanks!

Avast Antivirus, and configure it to be in "gaming mode" at all times, so you won't ever have to worry about it.

VLC Player for any media needs.

Firefox of course. Flash and Java plugins, as well as Foxit or Adobe Reader. (If you install the latter, however, make sure you go into msconfig and disable updater from starting up)

If you want a lightweight, fast browser, give Google Chrome a try.

    Also, try this site: http://ninite.com/
