I have one of these http://forums.bit-tech.net/showpost.php?p=3659885&postcount=16 a Enermax ETS-T40 and have fitted it in this build:http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?t=276418 biut as I point out here http://forums.bit-tech.net/showpost.php?p=3660528&postcount=21 the cooler is too tall by a few mill. My question(s) are can I remove the tops of the heat-pipes without affecting its overall performance? If so what would be the best method? Would I need to reseal the pipes in some way?
Well, share it with the community then? Basically, once you do anything that opens or pierces a hole in the wall of the heatpipe, it is rendered useless. Forget about resealing them; that is about as effective as resealing a vacuum tube or light bulb. You cannot shorten heat pipes. You have to be careful even just bending them as you can crack the wall.
That is pretty much what I was told. So not the end of the world more of a niggle. But lesson learnt measure measure and then measure again. I doubt it would have cost much more to have an extra 10mil added to the overall width. Thanks for your confirmation.
