Modding Removing thermal adhesive

    How do you remove an old thermal pad, off the bottom of a heat sink? I'm sure im being dumb so i wondered how do you.

    I usually put some rubbing alcohol on it (isopropyl), let it work on the adhesive a big and then gently remove the pad with a clean/sharp razor blade.

    I usually use a little Goof Off and my finger nail so I don't have to worry about scratching the heatsink surface. Of course if you are going to lap it that wouldn't matter.

    yeah i scratched it off, then used sum lighter fluid to get rid of the remaining adhesive.
