    Hey guys,
does anybody know how to remove the heatspreaders on my corsair XMS3? To make it harder, I don't want to put the memory in the oven or microwave, any ideas?

I wouldn't recommend it, there have been many horror stories of people pulling off the heatspreaders and the RAM chips with them :/

well, speaking from inexperience here...but without the use of heat (would that work very well anyway?), your next best bet would probably some sort of solvent to dissolve the glue holding the heat spreaders on.

the trick is getting it under the spreaders without getting it all over everything.

Heat does seem like the best option here, I'm just afraid of damaging any tiny bits when I pry under the memory. At the moment I just feel like sticking them over the original heatspreaders :D They're only for aethestics anyway.

that might be your lowest risk option. ram really doesnt generate that much heat at most stock speeds/volts.

Late to the party, but I've always just shoved them in a ziplock bag, sucked out out all the air (no condensation), and then shoved them in the freezer over night.

Next morning, they just pop off easy peasy.
