look what i found on the attic by my grandparents: already disassembled (of course) There is, however, one slight problem: the schaft is stuck. Really stuck. I tried oil, WD40 and a night in coca cola. Nothing works (another dissapointment in American technology). any idea's? more aggresive products who are not going to eat the motor as a whole, easy to come by? things like that? take care, alpaca
warm diesel and soak it good, not over night but for a few days. Then give it a sharp tap to free it.
Cola? That probably made it worse. As burnout says, soak for a long time in diesel or light oil. and hit the piston lightly to wedge it loose. If that fails you could try to heat up the fins on the head and find some cooling spray onto the piston before tapping. Even if you get it loose I doubt that you'll get it to run properly. the cylinder walls/piston is probably a bit deformed from the seized piston. You could try to completely dismantle it. Remember to clean up and oil all the bearings. You will also need to clean the carburetor properly. Make sure the needle in the needle valve isn't pitted from corrosion.
well, the needle IS pitted, and the cola trick (quite acid) worked like a charm on other things (mainly rust and stuff). I'll give diesel a try, who knows? i'm not planning to invest a lot of time or money in this, but it would be nice to do something with it, if it was only to show to my grandpa (he bought the thing a zillion years ago when he was in the US. it run once.)
