come on guys ipod parodies i think all the people reading this thread should at least check it out tell me how you like it i thought some were funney
I have finished and IT WORKS!!!!! Here are some pics: The wires soldered on. This was a little tad difficult becuase on 2 of the contacts the contact metal was pulled off with the jack so I had to scrape away some of the coating exposing a tinge of copper as my contact. Here I put hot glue over the soldering for stability. Here you can see it working. And here is the ghetto-ness of it. The wire coming out what used to be the jack. So I am pretty happy. But does anyone have a not so ghetto idea to make that wire more stable. Maybe something that looks ok? I mean so far it still looks pretty normal.
maybe a polished up washer?put crap loads of hot glue in the hole and press the waser onto it from the outside. after the glue dries remove excess, shouldnt look half bad.
"(BTW, the iPod is more of a head-turner then any of the others )" lol. maybe they aren't too common where you live, but after christmas, at my highschool it was just a sea of white headphones everywhere you look. you're not special if you have an ipod, no one cares. but me, whenever i pull out my MD player (that has intergrated FM tuner, thank you ), everyone's like "oh, that's crazy what is it." most of them have never seen one, and are always saying, "that's so awesome, i wish i had one." granted, it's not perfect, but i'm glad i chose it.
dang, high schoolers getting $2-500 gifts are so foreign to me. If either of my parents bought me the cheapest iPod back when I was in HS, that would have been all I got. Damn kids and their rich parents
take some shrink rap, but glue one end to the inside of your overexpensive hard drive, woops ipod. then shrink the other end on the wire, then paint it white.
yeah, its so hard beating them up and fencing their iPods on eBay... hey you rich kids, tell your parents to buy you more expensive crap and less self-defense training! j/k... really... whatever happened to socks and knit sweaters from your parents? jeez, $500 on one gift!?!?!?!? what do you get for your birthday? a caddy? (-lac, not golf slave) or how about a small tropical island? ...sonuva diddly...
Easy there!! I work my @$$ off to get a lot of the stuff I have. And when it breaks I dont go crying to my parents--I fixed it myself. Also, I didn't get an iPod to turn heads. It was just what I wanted. In fact most of the time it is in my pocket (and I dont take it out cuz I mostly use it at school.....during classes) and I use black headphones. Just because kids have a lot of s*** doesnt mean you should call them spoiled! A lot of us work hard and aren't the mooches you think we are.
Roger that, I've got a paintball gun worth $2k...but I bought it for $400. Ive got a 2003 Cavalier I bought for $6000. Point is, I buy my crap myself (I'm 20) and I don't depend on my parents...most people my age cant afford to depend on their parents for much more than school. So, look past material possessions, please. I would hate to think I've been included in this list b/c I have expensive toys.
i wasn't including any1 on any list just 'cause they got nice stuff, i was kinda pissed about $500 Xmas presents. i got a couple nice things, paid for 'em myself, so i know where you're coming from, G (sorry, channeling my inner gangsta) in fact, if i WAS making a list, you'd be off it just for the fact that you broke the jack (on "accident" you just wanted an excuse to open it up, huh?) you fixed it yourself you didn't have daddy whip out the ol' platinum card to get you two new ones (in case you broke the second one). good job, you had some balls opening up that iPod, but now the mummies curse is on you... Zombification
yeah, I was far from trashing iPod owners... hell, I'm actually buying one next week but when that dude said that iPods are just common at his high school, you can't honestly say all those kids worked their butts off for those iPods You did a great job repairing yours, it's what us "real" people would do instead of crying to daddy. Props to you
You might want to try a rubber boot of some sort, something that will flex along with the movement of the cable. I know that dust boots are made for RC car drive shafts and the like, especially 1/8 buggies. You might want to go to a hobby shop and look around for something like that, I'm sure you'll find something of interest in there. Actually now as I think about it, most of the control linkages on RC boats have rubber boots on them where they exit the hull. I am most positive that you could find something along those lines to satisfy your needs. Hope this small amount of in-put helped.
I hope you are not assuming I am a rich kid... This christmas all I got from my parents was a 100 dollar grift card. I am not complaining though. You seeI have been working since I was 12, (not legally I know) But with all the money I made I can buy anything I want pretty much.
yeah i dont get expensive stuff like that on christmas anyways, but that doesnt stop me from having them. i saved up at my AWESOME bagger job at the grocery store to buy the 20gig nomad jukebox zen i have oh, and you people who are assuming the ipods cost $500 are wrong, you can get a 15 gig for $300.
im not rich or any thing i live in san antonio and i went to a ghetto school called McCollum high school (i think thats how you spell it)any way in my high school were i graduated 1 year ago there were hardly any people flaunting off ipods infact nobody even had a ipod to flaunt they didnt flaunt much of any thing really i did the only reason i did is because there was this guy i know that had a lot of computer parts (mp3 players palm pilots ect) one catch was all his stuff was broken so i go "why do you keep it " he goes im going to take it back and return it any 2 months later he ask me if i wanted any thing so i took all the stuff and fixed it and then i used the hell out of it (the worst thing i had to fix was a motor in the mp3 player and a few broken traces innthe palm)they lasted for a while then i sold them to some one as a package mp3 player palm and 2 memory cards for 300 dollars 250 proffet
motor in an mp3 player? I admit, after the holidays I did see a few more people with iPods. I hang out with some of the more tech-savvy kids at school and we make fun of people with MD players . Most of the people at my high school are pretty tech savvy, and even if the ones who aren't have lots of tech sh*t. But, what do you expect when you live in the internet capital of the world (northern virginia) p.s. fairfax county, where i live is the richest county in america
