Is it possible to replace my DVD+RW drive in laptop with 2.5" hard disk. My laptop HP has no removable drive so any ideas....
Even still, you'd need to find a good way to physically mount it, and cover the gaping hole that the no-longer-present DVD drive would leave.
Attack and gut a matching cd unit was my thought. But the alignment would be a PITA. External USB would be sooo much easier. I know that's not the modding spirit but you could mod the external. And you can get one for $10-$20ish for whatever drive you have to put in it. Good luck tho!
I found this adaptor ? Any ideas on what the pin-outs are for this connection. http://www.tiger111hk.com/product_i...d=694&osCsid=70ea3a474aca77a3f927122027935111 Many thanks,
I'd say: Yes, that adaptor will enable you to replace the DVD drive on your laptop with a 2.5" HD. The 50-pin connector on the DVD drive has all the pins of the 44-pin 2.5" ATA/IDE style connector, so what you found just converts the physical space of the DVD drive into a suitable physical space for at 2.5" HD, and it also converts the 50-pin ATA/IDE port into a 44-pin ATA/IDE port. I have definately added a bookmark for that page, in my wishlist folder.
