    Hey All,

Has anyone ever replaced a cable on a gaming headset (mic & earphones)?

What type should I be looking for?

I'm looking for options, Can't seem to find what I need through lack of knowledge on the subject.

    Any help appreciated.

is it made to be replaced?
How good is your soldering skills if not?
You would want to remove the entire cable from solder point and solder in the new cable there.

I have yet to find any place that offers to do such a service.

My headset has a problem with a loose connection at the socket end so I'd like to know how this is done too.

well just the other end you may be able to get away with just replacing the end with an easy screw together replacement end, but generally gamer headsets use cheap cheescutter wires, where replacing the entire cable may be needed. either way its only a 50/50 chance of it working unless you are handy with the soldering iron and even then its not a guaranteed to work.

This is one of the reasons when I went Pro audio I made sure to get headphones with a replaceable cable. Even gamer headsets like the Asus Anc use replaceable cables now :D

But I would not trade my AKGs (see sig) for anything.

I imagine the quickest way to get a cable would be to buy a cable with a 2.5mm stereo jack on either end. Snip one end off and solder it to your headphones. They should be available in home audio stores, music shops, electronics stores etc.

The cable on this gaming headset has what looks to be 4 cores (nylon looking crap R,G,B and white) to carry the signal for Mic and headphones.
If it was just the headphones (stereo) I would be set, But this carries audio L/R + Mic.
I have some decent quality 3.5mm plugs, What i Wanted to do was replace the whole cable, removing the mic mute/volume switch. Then paracord the whole length from headset to plugs

Got a decent solder station, so I'm not worried about that part.

Just can't seem to find this cable anywhere.
