My father owns an Acer idea 510. Recently i suspect the pwer supply has blown as a number of capacitors now have domed tops. I plugged the part into google and i came up with the item on here. Its is only a 120w a nd i thought that nearly 60 squid was a little steep. so i thought i would try locating the part elsewhere by using the FSP model number (120-40GLS) but no joy. I dont want to be a cheap skate but i think i could get a much better psu for that money. the only problem i can forsee is the shape does anyone have any suggestions as to any alternatives. Here is an enlarged image of the psu in question. As always thanks in advance.
Does this PSU have a Form Factor or is it unique, if you can't find the PSU why not mod a proper PSU and the case to make some kind of external PSU, providing the PC has standard connectors
You need to find out the form factor. Doesn't sound like an ATX one, so probably a microATX? http://www.ebuyer.com/search?page=1&store=2&cat=149&ca335=Micro+ATX Could be one like these would fit? Or here: http://www.scan.co.uk/Shop/Computer-Hardware/All/Power-Supplies/MicroATX-and-Fanless
i tried to find out from the fsp webside but it does not appear to be listed. i assumed it would be microATX but they all look considerably different. to the model i currently have.
If it's an mATX, check this out: http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/350w-Be-Quiet-BN134-SFX-uATX-PSU It's a bit pricey, but it's the only mATX PSU I can find that's made by a named brand and has garnered decent reviews.
